Why is iCloud still mostly useless?
Annoying feature #1 -- no way to turn off default "Save" to iCloud in Pages. It should be an option, not the default, as it forces you to always make the extra step just to save it to disk, which is far and away the more common user preference.
Annoying feature #2 -- Annoying feature #1 wouldn't be so much an issue if auto saves to iCloud then actually showed up as documents on my iPad when launching Pages. They don't because Apple is distinguishing between iCloud as a "back-up" tool and iCloud as a manually managed device sharing application (but see Annoying feature #3 below). Why they would keep these functions separate is beyond imagination.
Annoying feature #3 -- you can't access the log-in iCloud website from a browser on your iPad -- easily one of the dumbest program/software features in the history of computing. Users should be able to manually access their iCloud workpace (iWork docs) on any device, just as they do on their iMacs (except for the drag and drop option, as iPads don't have desktops per se -- but an "Upload from iPad" button would work). This would make the use of iCloud consistent across devices, while not imposing on any built-in aspects. Users simply like to have control over their documents, period.
Annoying feature #4 -- the iCloud webpage on the Apple site is almost as useless as iCloud itself, with just the same promotional bellydance and mute instructions on how to set up your device, but with no detailed explanation of how the document sharing infrastructure actually works.
