Is it possible to use my own hotspot for internet..? Or can I only connect other devices..?

You can use your Wi-Fi. as for connecting to other devices i think you can.

I can connect other devices to the hotspot provided by my phone no problem, but when I try to connect to my own wifi, I don't see the option
