why when I move my cursor through my event it will not show that event but another one and will only show that one where ever I place the cursor

Hi , I place my cursor on my imported library and where ever the cursor goes it shows another clip selected, it will not show the clip I want but another earlier selected. I can not get it to stop this, what am I doing wrong, all is want to do is look what is in a clip so I can decide what to select and what I dont want. It is like it wants to put that clip , previously selected, in to the clip I am watching , anyone got any clues, thanks Moana1936
