Is Samsung SCX-4720 really supported by OSX 10.8?

Hi all,

I find myself in the need to use the Samsung SCX-4720 printer with OS X 10.8.

Although Apple states that this printer is supported (see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#samsung) i'm having no luck with it.

Sure, OSX recognizes it, but when I try to print a document, it print a series of unrelated phrases / characters (as if he did not understand the TRUE content of the document)...maybe I could call it "postscript gargage"?! So...What can I do? Is Samsung SCX-4720 really supported by OSX 10.8?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

I can't say specifically about the SCX-4720 but my SCX-4600 which was made way before Mountain Lion was released does work with Mountain Lon.

What app are you printing to it from?

I tried to print a PDF from Preview... (and the printer is connected by USB cable. I don't think using a ethernet cable will solve the problem, but in that case I might buy it).

Horray! Now it works!

After I installed the drivers, it still printed garbage...but then i found where was the problem!

OS X automatically recognizes the printer and assign it the wrong drivers...so i manually select the Samsung SCX-470x Series drivers and now it works!

Oops..... obviously i wanted to writerthe "Samsung SCX-472x Series" drivers instead of "SCX-470x" drivers!

One last thing....the printer now work very well, except for the fact it still print one (and only one) page of garbage the first time I turn it on. Any suggestion? However, this is a minor glitch!:)
