Meaning of Console Message

Hello everyone,

Does anyone happen to know what the following message in Console means...

1/16/13 3:08:56 PMcom.apple.launchd[1](com.apple.SystemStarter) Failed to count the number of files in "/System/Library/StartupItems": No such file or directory

Was curious as it appears in Console well over 200 times within 4 days.

My system seems to be running normally, but wanted to know if this is an indication of trouble ahead.

Thank you,

joe

You should have the folder /StartupItems in /System/Library. Check to see if it's there. I have one, but it's empty. I suppose it doesn't matter if you have it or not, but if it's not there you could eliminate the messages by creating one, since it appears to be looking for it. To do that, open Terminal and enter

sudo mkdir /System/Library/StartupItems

Hit return and enter your admin password when prompted; it won't be displayed. Then hit return again and close the window. Job done.
