Blank Screen, despite connecting to computer.

I've used this ipod nano 3 times, and I've had it less than a month. No damage. The screen will not turn on. It connects to my laptop and shows it to be working fine, BUT I can't use it. the screen just stays black despite all the sites suggestions.
