how do I find out how much memory is available on my iMac PC G5?ailable on my iMac G5

I am wondering how much memory is available on my iMac PC G5 isight, 20" screen. When I go to the Apple icon in the top bar and click on About this Mac, it shows the memory as 1.5GB DDR2 SDRAM...is this a lot of memory? I have lots of pics on my iphoto and lots of songs in my itunes. Another question is what can I delete to increase my memory? I am thinking about purchasing Adobe Photo Shop and know it will take up lots of memory. Sarah

1. That isn't the figure you need to check. Select the hard drive, choose Get Info from the File menu, and check the Available number.

2. Move your iTunes and iPhoto libraries to an external drive, and delete items in the /Library/Printers/ folder you don't need.

Hi Niel...thanks for telling me how to check my memory. I was amazed to find that I have 233.64GB capacity and still have 186.63GB available. When you said "move my iPhoto and iTunes libraries to an external drive"...I guess you mean my Passport ed. I assumed that all of my files, etc....were already transferred to it automatically. I am concerned that if these are on my ext. hard drive, that if it fails, I have lost them! You also said to "delete items in the library/ Printers/folder that I don't need" would this folder be in my hard driver and what items might those be?

So glad to have your help. Sarah

Also, your iMac can take a maximum amount of RAM of 2.5 GBs.

Adobe was offering their complete Adobe CS2 Creative suite for free, if this is still available.

The last version of the Adobe Creative Suite that is still compatible on the G5 is CS4.

If you can find this version OR if Adobe can sell you an older version, that would be another option.

Try Amazon for older Adobe CS versions for sale.

If you have an older version of Adobe CS, you maybe able to purchase cheaper upgrade versions if the upgrade versions include your older Adobe CS versions as a system requirement.

The upgrade versions are cheaper to purchase.

IF you have never purchased an Adobe CS product, then you need to stick with Full versions of the software and pay the full version price.

Good Luck!
