Nope. Lithium based batteries, as used in the iPod do not like to be depleted. It will greatly shorten their life span.

Not advisable since you can get cell reversal in some of the cells of the battery. Reversal can permanently reduce the battery's capacity or damage the battery.
oh man 😢...I just got it for Christmas ..it now won't hold a charge for more than a few hours at a time...what are my options now????
- How long does a full charge last and what is the iPod doing during that time?
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
ok..for instance...I had it fully charged over night...I had it turned off...but somehow it turned on...I did not use it ALL day ( I was at work)...I come home (8hours later) the battery completely drained shortly after I came home ...it doesn't make sense...and thanks I will check out the Genius Bar...I just hope I didn't ruin my ipod...😟
