I have a new iPod and soon as I turned it on, it wanted me to upgrade it to the new IOS 6.0.1. Ever since then, my imessages won't work. I've reset it and everything and it still doesn't. So why won't it work?

How do I troubleshoot it? I thought imessages wouldn't work after the iOS 6 upgrade? Is that true cause if so that's pretty messed up considering I just got this and can't even try it out because of an upgrade I thought I was supposed to have!
WHat u have to do is hold down power button and home button till It turns off then go to setting And go date and time and turn automatilc time turn that on then try to log in messages worked for me
