Installing iTunes

When I try to update iTunes on my Mac computer it won't let me, and when I try to update my Mac software it will not let me as well. Now I cannot sync my iPod with my computer. Does anyone know anyway to solve this problem?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

If that model of iPod lists Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier in its original system requirements and was updated to iOS 6, click here.

If that model of iPod lists Mac OS X 10.6.8 as a requirement, you must upgrade your OS; Mac OS X 10.6 requires an Intel Mac.
