Can i charle my iPod touch 4G with the ipad 4 charger of 12W with 1.X A of output?

I'm recently buy an ipad and it has charger and I have an iPod touch 4G that doesn't have a normal charger and I see that the outputs between both chargers is deferent amp, can this damage my iPod touch if I charger with the 12W charger of the ipad?

I'm searching in google but I'm not sure of the topics in other forums, the apple web page says that these adapter is compatible with all devices
