I was updating my computer
Mac book pro late 2011 with the lion thing. I was updating and it went to restart but it died while restarting now I can't log in! The disk thing won't work if tried so I need to know what else to do!!!!

When you write that "the disk thing won't work" do you mean booting into your Recovery partition? Try holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting. You should be able to access Disk Utility so that you can verify and, if necessary, repair your boot volume.

No sorry I meant the putting the disk into make it work again
Now I'm really confused - do you mean using the optical (DVD) disc that came with your computer?

Yeah. I have been reading and people say that when you can't log in just put the disk you got with your computer in and it should work but it doesn't. I called apple and they said that because my computer turned off while updating the update didn't take hold and now every time I try log on it won't let me. I put my password in and it startes to log on then it just goes back to the log in screen
Did you try either holding down the C key, or the option key, to make sure that you can boot from the DVD? Try that - if it doesn't work, call back.

It didn't work but I can click recovery if I do will it delete my stuff off my Mac?
No - nothing will be deleted unless you have to reformat the drive. First elect to boot into the Recovery partition and then use Disk Utility to first verify and then, if necessary, repair the drive. If the volume can't be repaired, it's likely that your hard drive is dying.

Ok thank you for your help. Why is it dying it's new only a few months old and I have loads of space still
