JIS Japanese keyboard layout

I bought a Macbook Air with JIS Japanese keyboard layout. However I felt very discomfortable to type because some keys changed from US layout.

How do I use software to re-map keys to US layout?

For example, now @ letter in the right of P key, I'd like it placed in 2 key.

One possible fix is to use system preferences/language & text/text/symbol and text substitution.

A better one may be to create a custom keyboard layout using

PS I should have mentioned that making a custom layout is really simple. Ukelele comes with templates for the standard layouts, and all you do is drag/drop the different characters you want onto the keys of the template and then install the new file in the appropriate folder of your OS. For the kind of thing you want to do it only takes a few minutes.
