My macbook, purchased in 2009, gets very hot when using parallels and when using video and game sites (club penguin for my kids). I do need to update the OS since I can sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes since I cannot update iTunes with my current OS. Would resetting the NVRAM help with the overheating issue?

Not sure which OS, I am using my work computer.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009)
