There are so many factors to account for, that it is impossible to even guess how bad the damage is.

Most of the time, it is serious. Coffee, with a little cream and sugar, contains just about everything that is bad for a sensitive electronic device. The fluid conducts electricity, it is likely corrosive, and it makes physical switches/keys awfully sticky.

If it made its way to actual electrical contacts, the keyboard is the first likely component to undergo irreparable damage. If it gets into the main board too, then the notebook is vertible scrap metal and glass.

The keyboard alone may cost you at least half the value of the system, to replace.

The question is not one that can be answered here, since a careful physical examination and diagnosis of damage is required. Take it into your local Apple Store to begin with.
