I have an old Powr Mac G4, no monitor, no keyboard. I want to temporarily connect my 13.5-inch (Intel) PowerBook to the G4 for the purpose of wiping the G4 hard drive. Is this possible?

Not without a keyboard and either a monitor or a FireWire cable.

I have a spare keyboard. What I'm asking is can I use the PowerBook as the only monitor for the G4? I have a mini display to vga adaptor. Can I hook the Powerbook to the G4 using the adaptor and have the Powerbook be only a monitor, without accessing it's own hard drive and running it's normal operating system?
No. The FireWire method works by putting the G4 in FireWire Target Disk mode, which doesn't require that it have a monitor.
