If you forgot the passcode then you'll need to restore the device via itunes on a computer.
I tried that, but after restoring it the passcode was still there.
You have to restore as a new device, not from backup.
ok..one last question then...where do I find Restore as a New Device?
You have to reset to factory settings. But you cannot restore from icloud, since the code comes back. You'll have to reconfigure the device from scratch, I'm afraid.
Have you never used this computer to sync with before? If you have you should be able to reset the passcode.
Otherwise you will prompted to restore as new or from backup.
The OP is talking about a Restrictions passcode, not the general password for the device. Restrictions passcodes cannot be circumvented using a restored backup.
Which was my first reply, but since he was having problems, starting thinking he may have been talking about something else.
So if you restore it as new device, and then you fix the passcode, can you back it up after that, or is there a way to restore the applications and contacts that were on the phone without restoring the passcode?
So what about contacts and applications, can I just restore those and not restore the passcode?
