I'm just wonding if its possible to upgrade from a 256gig SSD in my macbook pro retina to a larger SSD. I'm assuming you have to use a certain type of SSD. Anyone knoe what type and how ?

Mendel the link you gave is for a drive that is to be used to replace the internal storage in the retina. You have been responding to ppl saying the internal storage can't be increased because the flash drive is soldered to the board which is incorrect. A single screw holds the flash storage to the board allowing it to be replaced with larger storage such as the drive given in the link. Your information is out of date so please stop misinforming ppl.

As far as I know, OWC makes the only Retina flash storage available. Going from 256Gb to 480GB isn't bad - just a tad expensive.

Yes they will be the only ones for now.
The storage used is a non-standard, Apple customized size from what I have been reading and it will take other manufacturers some time to ramp up production once the figure out the sizing and how to get it in there.
