CenturyLink compatibility with Airport Extreme

I have CenturyLink for my internet provider. They installed a Modem/Router Westell 7500 that does not work very well. Therefore, I would like to replace it with the newest Airport Extreme device. Is this feasible? If yes, besides purchasing the Airpot Extreme is there anything else I will need to make this work correctly? When I spoke to CenturyLink they could not tell me if Airport extreme is compatible with their system so any help on how to improve the range and the drop off issues I am having would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I had that configuration and it works just fine.

I'm a great believer in the KISS principle.

Configuration is simple if you start from a factory default condition. Then connect the Airport to AC power and finally to the 7500. Open Airport Utility on your Mac or other computer and accept all of the recommendations. After confirming that it works, insert your desired administrative and WiFi passwords.

Do not expect the Airport to respond instantly to the configuration commands. BE PATIENT!
