My keyboard connects to my Mac mini but will not pair

My keyboard connects to my Mac mini but will not pair. The pairing number shows on the screen, I have typed it with and without a space between the 2 4 number groupings then hit return, and the number disappear like it worked but then reappear to pair again.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.3), will not boot up past blue screen,

If your keyboard was ever paired with another computer you need to unpair it before it will re-pair. Take ou the batteries and hold the on/off button foe a few seconds on the keyboard. Try fresh batteries.
