Hi, recently safari 6.0.2 has been getting slow and usually I'll get the occasional spinning pinwheel. Any advice on how to make it run faster? MacBook pro has been slowing down ever since mountain lion. Thanks!

Is Safari the only application that's slow? If you have any other web browsers installed, are they also slow? What about other devices on the same network?
It's not really slow, the only slow part about it is that it's not as responsive as before, the whole computer itself that is. Lately it's been slowing down and I'm worried. Not sure if I should clean install Mountain Lion, but the network is pretty good, it's just that the loading the webpages is slow and I keep getting the spinning pinwheel, not just from Safari but for other tasks. It takes awhile to start up applications too.
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
A common cause of a slow user interface is a large set of image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons. If you have more than a dozen or so such files, move them to another folder.
Another possible cause is iCloud activity, especially Photo Stream synchronization. If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane and see whether there's an improvement.
Otherwise take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message. You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.
Sorry, but what exactly am I posting? My computer is really slow so I can barely access the Internet because it won't load pages. The wifi is fine.

Safari is also slow after installing OSX version 10.8.2. Here is the info you requested in activity monitor and console:
The top of the activity monitor is the Safari Web Content at 4.2% constantly fluculating. It will change to kernel task and mds. The % User 4.76, %1.25 System, %94.50 Idle numbers but they keep changing.

I've been having a problem with an extremely slow internet the past couple of months. I'm certain its a computer problem, since Safari runs quickly on my iPhone and iPad. Within 5 minutes of opening Safari, the spinning beach ball appears. I've tried deselecting plug-ins, force quitting, etc. Nothing has helped up to this point. Any suggestions?

I completely agree: Safari is slow, this is true. I have to quit and restart it on a regular basis and make sure that I am not keeping too many windows open for too long, or open Firefox and use that instead.
It is sporadic in the way it works, it likes to stall on pages and sometimes ceases to work.
I have no issues with my hardware at all, and are running a large amount of ram on a new machine.
I use the activity monitor to watch what is happening with the computer, software, ram etc.
I'd recommend a pram boot: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
and restarting on a regular basis…
I've just recently migrated to 10.8.2 from 10.7.5 and have found that it has gotten worse and are really looking forward to the next upgrade hopefully working better… I have found generally that it takes a while for apple to iron out the bugs with new software, operating systems etc. hence taking some time before upgrading or migrating forward.
And always keep a backup of previous systems, as sometimes it's easier to not upgrade, as some hardware does not cope with new systems, then you can always go backwards and wait until you have a new machine to run the new system.
