I would expect that such a low-end model does not have an internal duplex unit. If this is the case, then you will to print on one side and then load the document back into the machine so that the reverse side can be printed on.
I don't use Pages so I don't know what its print dialog looks like, but if you are using Preview to open PDF documents, then as mentioned already, you need to have selected Show Details button. Then you can change from the Preview menu to Duplex Printing and Margin, which is shown below for my MP990. Here you will find the option to print two sided.
What application are you printing from? In most applications, once you choose Print, you'll get a print dialog window. In this window, a lot of people don't realize you can click on the triangle to reveal more printer options. Usually there's a drop down menu where you can choose different printer functions like paper type and quality...and usually one of those drop downs contains a duplex or double-sided printing option.
System Preferences>Print and Scan. Select your printer from the left side column and then select Print Queue from the right side. Select Utility, then select Driver. Make sure you have setup your printer using the proper driver and selected the option to do two sided printing.
Did you review the specs of this printer at all?
I just finished reading the specs on a couple of different sites and can find no mention of duplex or double sided printing anywhere.
As far as I can tell, the only way to print double sided would be to print a page, flip it and feed it back in to the printer, then print the next page.
I am having the same problem. I just got a cannon MG2520 and I've been trying to print double sided...however it's not a grayed out option. This is extremely infuriating because I need to print about 50 slides off every few days for class. I've tried everything people have offered so far. There is no "duplex managing" or something to that effect when I go through systems and preferences. I read somewhere else to change format for to the specific printer and use "letter" instead of "US letter." However, US letter isn't even an option for me. I tried to go through preview and it just kept making the slides go the wrong way and wouldn't let me print multiple slides to one pages. As of now I have to manually go through, hit handouts (6 slides per page) and then count what number slides those are in order to print it right....this is extremely frustrating!! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I am using PDF or pages. The two sided option has been grayed out. When i use my PC it works fine. So how do i do double sided printing for canon MP287?
Hey Mike, thanks for your comment. It helped me solve my problem!
