I have a Mac OS X 10.6.8 which has iphoto '09 8.1.2. Can I upgrade to iphoto '11? I import raw files with my new camera and this version will not recognize them.

My new camera is the Nikon D800. Im a photographer and I shoot in RAW and use iphoto to organize my photos. The last few months Ive had to use my macbook pro (iphoto '11) to upload my pics, save them on an external hard drive and transfer them to my imac to edit. I prefer to edit on my 27 inch imac because of the huge screen. It's such a pain!!!! I've tried several times to update with the RAWcameraUpdate3 and I get an alert that says "this update provides support for Aperture and iphoto 9 only". I HAVE iphoto '09!!!!

iPhoto v9 is iPhoto 11. You have iPhoto 8.

Marketing names and version numbers are confusing.

The marketing name iPhoto 6 corresponded to the version 6

The marketing name iPhoto 08 corresponded to the version 7

The marketing name iPhoto 09 corresponded to the version 8

The marketing name iPhoto 11 corresponded to the version 9

So, v9.4.2 is the current version of iPhoto 11.

Not that this is confusing or anything.
