When I tick Apple TV in the AirPlay drop down menu in iTunes it says 'connecting to Apple TV' and then never actually does. I think it's to do with this lock symbol but I don't know how to get it off.
I just successfully mirrored my iphone but can't manage to get there with my Mac.
Help appreciated!

Hi toyfare. tvOS 10.2 has made Require Device Verification the new minimum security level for AirPlay. This requires you to enter a one-time code each time a new device connects to AirPlay. If the Apple software on your other devices is up to date, they should handle it gracefully. It may be a problem for 3rd party programs, like Beamer. Try mirroring your phone or Mac to complete the code entry process.
i have done everything. reset everything. the lock wont disappear. i signed my husband out of icloud and itunes on the appletv and nothing works. i can screen mirror and then play music like that but if i just want to connect itunes im **** out of luck. not the biggest deal but i wish it worked!! help!
Check on the AirPlay settings on the Apple TV that a AirPlay is enabled and doesn't have a passcode enabled, you might also try turning AirPlay off and on again.
Thanks Winston - I did what you suggested and the lock disappeared but when I go to tick Apple TV from the drop down menu in itunes it now says 'An unknown error (-15006) occured while connecting to the AirPlay device Apple TV' ?? Any ideas as to what to do next?

Try restarting the Apple TV, computer and router.
I am having this same problem. I think the newest update screwed it up? Not sure, but I can't airplay my tunes from my iphone or my macbook now. Have you found anything else out by chance?
