Is there a Mac driver for Emprex DVD R drives?

I have an external Emprex DVD RW/CD-RW USB drive and I'd hoped to use it with my "new" Mac Mini. I haven't tried it based on advice from a friend, who tells me that I'll have to find a Mac driver for it.

Has anyone else overcome this problem? Does Apple have a list of compatible drives?
