My iPad's keyboard is not working.

When I "slide to unlock" my iPad 2, the keyboard comes up as usual to enter my password. However, when I go to type it in, the buttons push but nothing shows up on the screen.

An equivalent situation that I can think to describe it is when trying to enter numbers using the number keypad on a computer keyboard when the Num Lock key isn't active.

Any ideas?

I am experiencing similar puzzling problems with the new iPad Pro keyboard where some web sites and apps will either not recognize it (works in other documents) or certain keys will be substituted. For example, the chat function in EA Scrabble will not recognize the keyboard at all. Clapway's comment section replaces the space bar with the down arrow. Other web site comment sections produce other strange and often random keystroke replacements that are maddening. This forces me to detach the keyboard and use the on screen keys which always work.

What's interesting is that I have not experienced this behavior with the 12.5" version of the keyboard. Only the 9.7" one and am beginning to think I have a defective keyboard.
