My macbook battery dies fast when I am on it. It this normal?

Click on the apple at the top left of your screen, then click on System Report in the box that appears. In the next box, click on Power under Hardware on the left side of the box. The first item that appears is Battery Information. Half way down you will see Health Information, and under that you will see your current cycle count and condition.

Since your MBA is so new, the cycle count should be pretty low, and the battery condition should say normal.


If your MBA is a 2012 model, your battery is spec'd to last 1,000 cycles at 80% of design capacity, so you probably have nothing to worry about (although it is theoretically possible you may have a defective battery, in which case Apple will replace it at no charge under your 1 year warranty).
