You need to either upgrade your OS or buy install an iWork 09 DVD. If you're using a Core 2 Duo or better Mac with at least 2GB of RAM, it's cheaper to buy 10.7 or 10.8 unless you'll also need to upgrade any other software such as Microsoft Office 2004; neither OS supports PowerPC applications. If you're using a Core Duo Mac, you must buy the iWork 09 DVD.

    Hey Niel,

I want to install the iworks on my new mac mini, as I don't like using keynote on icloud.  How can I do that if the new mac mini has no disc port?

iWork 09 is compatible with Mavericks, Yosemite and El Capitan, borrow an external USB optical drive and install from the external.

Most computer shops will loan you one for free while you install on the premises.

If you install the iWork '09 DVD into Mavericks, Yosemite, or El Capitan, then you also need to install the Apple iWork 9.3 updater directly afterwards for compatibility with these operating systems. This Apple updater is strictly for iWork '09 DVD applications.

One more question... and thank you to everyone... If I install it, and I have pages and numbers on icloud currently, will it affect any of that data? spreadsheets, content etc?  I have quite a bit on those 2 apps I certainly do not want to compromise.

    You all rock... thank you!
Gary.... I have a little apple store right up the street, I hope they'll help me out on the disc!

Installing iWork will not prevent you from using iCloud apps in the future, it won't delete any files whether on iCoud or on a local drive.

However, you must never rely on iCloud as the main storage area, always have a local backup on an external drive.

If the store is anything like what we have in the UK, they will try to help out in every way they can.
