Hi my iMac PowerPC broke so I took the hard drive out and put it in a USB enclosure.
It was password protected (FileVault) on OSX snow leopard please can somebody tell me an easy way of getting my files off it onto my new iMac OSX mountain lion

Nothing on your PowerPC iMac except maybe a few documents might be Mountain Lion compatible. Mountain Lion does not support PowerPC applications. In fact unless the application was installed on Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later, it likely is not even compatible with Intel Macs. If it was later, it would have had to be a Universal application. As for the Filevault that complicates matters. Do you remember its password?
