Your camera is not on the Supported List - but chances are it is similar to one of the cameras that is on the list.

After attaching your camera via USB, and with the camera plugged into AC power (not batteries only), open iMovie and it should see the camera. If it does not, click FILE/IMPORT FROM CAMERA.

Appleman, as usual, had the article from Apple that describes the techique for using this type of dvd camcorder. If you get it to work, maybe you could add a comment letting others know how things worked out? These older dvd camcorders are still around, and there are folks who are wondering the same thing you are.
