Time Machine/Emptying Trash Problem

I goofed by dragging a host of Time Machine backups to Trash. Now I can't empty Trash. I tried holding 'Option' and then Empty Trash but that didn't work. Saw here (after the fact, of course), other references to people having problems after dragging TM bkups to Trash. Help?
