I have a Macbook A1181 Battery wont charge sleep led light stays on HELP!!!!!!!

I just bought the macbook from a friend he sold it to me becasue he thought the screen went out i googled & youtube a few things about the problem i reset the PMU & PRAM and the screen came back on and i was able to use it normally so i know it works fine but that still didnt fix the problem the battery still wont charge and its still in sleep mode right now i have it hooked up to the tv as a monitor also the left and right click doesn't work on the trackpad i can only move the arrow around... if anyone can help are give best advise i would be VERY THANKFUL!!!!
