Trickietrev Level 1 Level 1

I am reading that there are problems in Java 7 for Mountain Lion.

I am not able to open any youtube or ASIC video clips. It says "blocked plug in" then has a black screen

Do I download Java JDK 7 then do I download the update JDK 7u11?

Will it then run on my mac and will I be in danger of security breaches eg trojans?

Seems like Apple are not supporting this and not offering any alternatives.

The salesman on line at Apple assured me that there would not be any problems or concerns in running Mountain Lion from 10.6.8 and I find youtube doesnt work

Thanks Trickietrev

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities Java 7 Update 11 fixes a dangerous bug, and that's why Apple has blocked all Java versions except Java 7 Update 11. If you need Java, download Java from Oracle website > http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7-downloads-1880261.h tml Unless you are a developer, you have to download JRE. When you run Java, you are always in danger because it has got a lot of security problems, and that's why we recommend to not use it or use Java as less as possible to keep your computer safe

You dont use Java to watch youtube videos, you use Adobe flashplayer. Even though Java has been patched it is still advisable to disable it though your browser. Have you any apps that really needed it?
