disnoted causing iMac to restart daily! HELP!!

Hi there,

Every day when I sitdown to my iMac, it has restarted I get the message "Your computer has been restarted because of a problem". So I check the error and the process that is causing the issue is a process called "disnoted".

Checking up on the process, it looks like it is the process that handles the notifications. I have turned off all notifications that I can from the notification centre. But it is still happening.

I have been reporting this error to Apple Daily. Is there a quick way to get to the root of the issue?

Any and all help really appreciated.

You are having kernel panics, generally hardware related, often due to faulty RAM.

If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the entire contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.

Any or all of the following third-party system modifications may be contributing to your problem:

VirusBarrier

OpenVPN client (?)

SX-Virtual Link

LogMeIn

If the panic is recurrent, I suggest you uninstall them, one at a time, according to the developers' instructions, to see whether you can identify which one is at fault. A conflict between modifications may be involved. Reboot and test after each uninstallation. Start with "VirusBarrier," which is the only one of the modifications that's completely useless.

Back up all data before making any changes.
