can i put raw files on a thumb drive and then transfer them to aperture

I want to be able to transfer photos taken in RAW to a thumb drive until I can get to my desktop (MacBook) to put the pics in Aperture. Can this be done and if so how? I am trying to avoid purchasing a multimedia storage drive. Thanks for you help.

Thank you. I know that you can buy photo storage drives to put your pics in until you get home. Is there one that would be good to use that is not terribly expensive. With those, I believe, you download the pics to them and then put them on the computer. Some are terribly expensive and others quite reasonable. Do they all accept RAW? As you can tell,I am a novice at this. Usually, I take a laptop with me, download to the laptop and then to the desktop when at home. This is cumbersome as it is not always convenient to do the laptop download.

I am certailnly open to sny and all suggestions as to how I can accomplish my goal. Thanks
