Can I stream the photos from my mac running 10.6.8 to my apple TV?

I am having trouble streaming photos from my macbook pro (purchased Oct 2010) to my apple TV, is there any way of sorting this? Is it because my Mac is too old to support Airplay even though I can stream music/film from iTunes?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Hi Winston, thanks for getting back to me - I can't seem to find the option on iTunes. Is it supposed to be in preferences?
