Have new Canon Legria HFR38 wi fit capable camcorder. Have connected to ipad and can transfer MP4 videos successfully with downloaded movie uploader app, but how do I do this via wi fi with the macbook pro - download the same app?

What do the directions for the camera suggest? If it is a WiFi camera it probably has a compatible drive for the Mac that needs to be installed. You should probably start with Canon Support and see what they say about WiFi and Mac.
Unfortunately, the camcorder only has software for windows, not mac, and searches on the internet do not provide any software compatible with mac. It instructs to download the movie uploader for IOS devices so I was wondering whether this includes the macbook pro as well? I can transfer via a usb connection, but I would like to transfer via wifi to the laptop as I am able to on the ipad.

Depending on your home wireless network you may have to set up manually.

Hi thanks for that, but have downloaded the manual and set up the wifi - all working fine with ipad once downloaded the movie uploader app, but the software provided with the camera for wifi only works with Windows not Mac, so I was wondering if I downloaded the same app onto my macbook would that work - suppose no harm in trying? Just wondered if the community knew of any other software that would allow me to transfer video by wifi from the mac.
