how do i import iTunes from external hard drive

I had itunes on our old PC. We moved iTunes to an external Harddrive and replaced our PC with a iMac. I would like to move my iTunes back onto the computer from external HD. I followed some instructions posted but nothing happened. I think I am missing something.
