My MacBook Pro was stolen recently and I would like to report it to Apple. How can I do that and will it help me to locate the stolen computer? It was a mid 2009 model. I am looking for any possible solutions that will assist me in recovering the stolen item. Thanks.

I'm afraid that Apple will not take a stolen computer report nor help you find it. The police will, of course, do it.

If you have iCloud going on your mac you might be able to use Find my Mac to locate your mac (or lock it).
I was recently informed that when I upgraded my Mackeeper software, it included anti-theft in its latest version. If I report it to Apple, they should be able to track it, correct?
Nope, Apple does not track your computer. As to what MacKeeper may have promised, no one can say.
... But, if you have MacKeeper running on the machine, you can take solace in the fact that the thief will have a pretty messed up machine.
MacKeeper is widely regarded as crap software on these forums, so I do not know if it will live up to its claims.
Apple makes computers and mobile devices. They are not in the tracking or police business. Reporting to the manufacturer of your computer will not help.

Essentially, I am looking for solutions to the problem, not looking to know how terribly bad a product from Apple may or may not be. Find my Mac, has been very helpful for future products purchased. I would like to know if anyone has been successful with the recovery of their lost/ stolen product. If you were successful, please post your explanation and how other may benefit from this. Thanks.

Apple does not make MacKeeper. I just didn't want you to get your hopes up thinking that software would definitely recover your Mac.
Apple is not going to help you recover your stolen property. If the police recover it, they may ask Apple to locate the owner from the serial number. So you should make sure that your registration is up to date.
The police will not do anything to recover stolen property. Specifically, the police here. That is a mute point in itself. I am looking for alternative solutions for possible recovery.
