To update Safari, open Apple menu > Software Update, and install the most recent updates. If you don't see a Safari update, you are running the most recent Safari version for Mac OS X Snow Leopard. See that Safari 6 requires OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion, so the most recent Safari version for Snow Leopard is Safari 5.1.7

What has Safari got to do with syncing iOS7? http://www.apple.com/iphone-5s/specs/ says:

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

  • Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
  • PC: Windows 8; Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
  • iTunes 11.1 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

(iTunes 11 runs on Snow Leopard).

And https://maps.google.com runs fine on Snow Leopard.

Sorry about that. My fingers kicked in before my brain did. It's iTunes that must be upgraded to v11 to sync with iOs 7.

My main concern is the update to OS 10.8 and the problem with the XEROX print drivers.

The warning that came up when I tried the new Google Maps telling me I needed a newer version of Safari put me into a tail spin as I have had so much trouble with 10.8 and Preview, Mail & QuickBooks.

Thanks for making the iTunes clarification for me.

The only problem I have with the new Google Maps that I have noticed so far (only been using it for a few days) is that when I get directions not all the data entry windows show up.

If there is a way to attach a screen shot here I can show you.

Second thing (not really a problem as much as nuisance) is that it always defaults to airplane. It would be nice to be able to have it default to auto.

Several days ago I had a way different window open up when I went to google maps.

It told about the "new" google maps and warned me that my version of Safari was not compatible. But it still gave me the option to try it. Since then I have been unable to access the old version. When I go to My Places, it opens up and looks like it used to. But if I select one of my saved (starred) maps it takes me to the new look. I kind of like the new google maps because it syncs with my iPad and iPhone. But it is way different in the way it works.

I did find somewhere in my searching a way to go back to the old but can't remember how right now. And not sure I want to go back.
