There is one of two possibilities:
- You have a 2nd generation iPod touch. This generation cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2.1.
- You have a later iPod touch. The latest update will be applied, which would be iOS 5.1.1 for the 3rd generation, or iOS 6.0.1 for later generations.
