How to reinstall OS 10.6.4 easily

I believe I accidentally deleted some system files and am having a problem with installing software for a new printer.

There is an error message when I try.

I'd like to reinstall my system software 10.6.4 (them upgrade to 10.6.8) and wondered if there was a way to do this

without losing everything I have on my computer.

G5, imac, mac book pro

I found an easier solution here:

Didn't have to erase my hardrive - but did back up. If you read to the bottom of the article it explains how

to reinstall with the 10.6.4 software. My automatic upgrades included the 10.6.8 upgrade, which is where

I was originally.
