How can I adjust various volumes of drum kit pieces without adjusting velocity in Garageband??

Hi there

I'm using one of the drum kits from garageband and I could do with having better independant control over the pieces of the kit.

I am assuming this is not possible without adjusting the velocity of the midi pattern?

I'd just like to be able to bring all of the kick drum/snare/hi-hats etc up and down easily with a slider?

I'm guessing if I want to do that I'm going to have to seperate the full drum into seperate tracks (Snare on one track, kick drums on another etc etc?)

Any advise?

You're correct. One hint: you can select all the kick drum notes in a region by opening it in the editor and clicking the respective note in the vertical keyboard. Then you have the choice to either adjust the velocity of all the notes at once, or cut them out with cmd-x to place them on a different track.

Thats a great tip. I've never heard of that before.
