I have installed a new HDD on my Imac power PC (!0.4.7) On powering up the disk utility can see the new HDD, but it says it is unmounted and it is not visible in list of volumes available for installing the OS. How can I wake it up?
How did you format it?
It is listed by the disk utility as unformatted and I could not see a way to format it. Clearly I have missed something here! Please advise...and many thanks for responding.
You need to format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in Dick Utility.
You do this by selecting Erase from the options at the top of the window.
Many thanks - silly of me not to realise that 'erase' can mean 'format'!!
