movie to SD Card

I just purchased a movie through itunes. I want to put the movie on an SD card that I have that fits into a USB accessory so we can use it on different computers. How do I do that? I tried to just drag it to the SD card but it didn't work

You've tried it dragging it from where from within iTunes or windows explorer/Mac finder ? You can't do it from directly within iTunes, if you right-click the film in your library and select 'show in explorer' / 'show in finder' you should then be able to copy it to an SD card and copy it into iTunes (File > Add To Library) on a different computer where your iTunes account is authorised

You are on a windows computer ? If you right-click on the film in your iTunes library do you get a pop-up ? I can't remember the exact wording, but one of the options on the popup should be something like 'show in windows explorer' or 'show in explorer'. Or selecting the film and film and doing 'get-info' (control-I) should give you a differnt popup with a series of tabs, and at the bottom of the General tab there should be a Where field showing the file's location.

O.K. I'm very sorry, I've been working like a madwoman these past few days and I just now am getting back to my computer. I did the control I and did get a different box. Says it's stored in icloud. so now what? I am on a windows computer, vista unfortunately, which I am changing this weekend as I have so much trouble with it, I hate it. So should I go to icloud to try to download the movie onto the SD card? I actually purchased it in SD form from Itunes so that it would fit and play properly on the card.

You went to what cloud drive ? If it shows as being in the cloud in the Movies part of your library then you should be able to click on the cloud symbol next to it (or on its top corner if you are in cover, as opposed to list, view) and re-download it, or go to the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page and re-download it : re-downloading.

It will only download to your computer. When it has done so you can then either do control-I (get-info) on it in the Moves part of your iTunes library to see where it's been downloaded to (you can then copy it to an SD card), or right-clicking on it and selecting 'show in explorer' should take you to where it's been downloaded to.

You can then add it to another computer's iTunes (File > Add To Library) where you've authorised your account

If the film is now downloaded onto your computer then it should be in the Movies part of your iTunes library - does it not show in there or has it got the cloud symbol next to it (if it has a cloud symbol then that implies that it's not downloaded) ? If it has downloaded to your computer you should be able to right-click on it and go to where it is stored on your computer, and you can then copy it via windows explorer to your SD card

By default your iTunes library should be under :

  • Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
  • Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
  • Windows Vista: \Users\username\Music\iTunes
  • Windows 7 and Windows 8: \Users\username\My Music\iTunes
