Ipod Touch Manual Sync Issues

Hi

I cannot manually add music/sync to my ipod touch 3rd gen since I have installed the latest version of itunes. I do not have this problem when using my iphone 4s. Any ideas why?

iPod touch, iOS 5.0.1
