"use audio port for" removed in ML?

So I wanted to mess with Garageband and hook some of my old equipment up for fun again. After doing some searching, I'm finding that I am unable to use the headset/microphone jack as a analog linein anymore. http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57459083-285/record-through-your-macbooks-he adphone-jack/ I'm guessing this feature was removed in ML becuase I dont see it on my Sound settings > input tab? Also on the output tab, it thinks my line in is a headset? I have a HDMI connected for the output to my stereo.

Yeah, I just dont know what adapter to get. Also a thread was covered over this on the MacRumors forum http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1389284

People are pretty upset if they have removed this feature.

Quick Start manual even labels it as Audio In/Out http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/macbook_pro-13-inch_mid-2012-quick_start_gui de.pdf

Apple made a big mistake on this one. Save a few bucks and take out the line-in jack?? Now force people to buy third party audio interfaces they will be calling tech support for. When you get the third party interfaces to work, most will have delay/latency problems recording.

...And get rid of out of the box Garageband support for using an electric guitar...genious.

I hope there is an update soon.
