Installing apps on iPOD 2g

I have restored my son's iPod Touch 2g to factory settings and now I cannot install any apps because none of them are compatible. Are there any apps I can get for this now?

iPod touch (2nd generation), iOS 4.2

Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

Thanks! I guess I kind of figured that was the case. I went ahead and synced it with an earlier backup. I just wish there were still some older apps/games available. It kind of makes this iPod useless for anyone else really...with the exception of installing music and photos. Oh well. Such is technology.

I dont mind not being able to use the new apps but it's chicken **** that they do not offer a search for apps that can be played on older 2G phones. Now my daughters Itouch is worthless.
