Hey I got an email a few weeks ago that they are possibly recalling apple imacs that were bought a few years ago, they wanted my serial number and all that informationg but i accidently deleted the email so now i have no idea if it was a true email or a scam, can someone please help me out with this? one more quick question way off topic, i have a xbox 360 beside my imac, i put a usb cord from my imac to my xbox, why cant i stream movies from my imac to my xbox onto my tv? or is there a special download/cord/app/settings i need? Thanks ALot.
I don't own an XBox, but I doubt it will work.
Your best option is with an AppleTV or Roku box. Either will connect to your wireless network and stream from your iMac. I prefer the AppleTV as I can stream from iTunes, iPhoto, or even stream my iMac onto my TV. AppleTV is $99 if I remember correctly.

Actually, the recall ended 04-12-2013.
However, some Apple stores or Aurhorized Apple repair centers may still do the recall free repair/replacement work, if your iMac serial number was still part of the recall.
You need to input your iMac's serial number here to see if your iMac qualified for the recall.

You would need to call an Apple Store or authorized service center to find out if they will still honor the program recall replacement hard drive.

yes i tried hat hey said recall is over...i only got a good 3 months use out of the computer... m first imac... and this will be my last..... i really didnt know how to use that computer so it sat there. well hanks for ur help...$2600.00 down the drain.... thanks apple
The replacement hard drive will only cost you a couple of hundred dollars to replace versus a new Mac.
If everything else is working fine, this is a no-brainier to have replaced.
It's Apple's fault that you didn't know how to use their computers? Really?

When you first purchased this, they had free classes you could've signed up and went to for first time Apple users that Apple personnel can show you how Macs work and help you learn to operate.
Plus, this support site can offer places online here that could've also helped you learn more about your Mac and how to use it, too!
i will have to pay for a replacement then. but yes the computer is still sitting behind my couch... after i get it fix it probley will still sit there.. i only to programs i use on that pc is garage band and pro logic.. other than that i never use the dame thang... i watched some movies on it... thats when the dam thang took a ****.... new update silver.... some program for watching movies

Some movie sites use a web browser plugin called Silverlight. This has been developed by Microsoft as a replacement for Adobe Flash Player.

well just got off the phone with apple they told me my computer doesnt fall in for the hard drive replacement but when i tpye in my serial # it does wow... ill save the links for when i get my computer up.. taking it in saturday...
