iTunes search isn't functional

This new iTunes (11.01) search is simply not functional.

I have songs in my library that iTunes seems unable to locate in any reasonable way. For example, the artist "Afrojack and Shermanology". If I have "Search Entire Library Checked", and I enter "Sherman", I get results in the Spotlight window, but can't click the song or show it in iTunes. (Why won't it just filter the results in the main iTunes window, so I can manipulate the results? )

When I uncheck "Search Entire Library", iTunes can't find the song at all.

When I browse by artists, the artist "Afrojack and Shermanology" is nowhere to be found in my library.

The ONLY way I am able to play the song is by finding it in it's playlist

Am I doing something wrong (other than still using iTunes)?

I'm stunned at how bad this version of iTunes is. I've been reliably using this app ten years. Now I loathe it.
